Happy New Year! My good friend Karen over at ‘The Rubbish Diet‘ has sent me the ‘Bag Lady’ challenge – and she knows I can’t turn down a challenge! The ‘Bag Lady Challenge’ comes from Shirley Lewis, an environmental film-maker from Ireland, her idea is that we (adults and children) pledge to take up one thing that’s sustainable and give up something that isn’t. I like the idea of bringing back some balance not only to our own lives but to the planet.
So my take up pledge is to buy/grow more local fresh produce, to reduce food miles and to give up driving my car as much and to walk more.

Great pledges Liz. I’ve just made mine today, pledging to turn my laptop off when not in use and remembering to turn the lights off when I leave the room, lol. I’m such a forgetful old bat ;0)
Anyway, I promise I won’t make you walk to Bury on your next visit, but I’ll save you a car journey and come to visit you by train instead ;0)

It’s a great ideas this asap pledge! I’ve pledged to buy less veg in plastic boxes and no plastic toys, and to grow more food, compost more and try and make presents and cards or buy handmade if I can’t make it myself.
