It’s that time of year again, we have busily been decorating and filling a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child this morning, which Lily will take into school in the new term. This year is seems to be extra special for Lily since she realised about Santa (RIP Santa). I was so proud of her this morning, we were walking around the shop gathering items, and she was really putting a lot of though into what a little girl like her would like if she didn’t have anything at all.
So she chose
2 Toothbrushes
1 Toothpaste
Flannel
Soap
Notebook
Watercolour Paints
Crayons
A Slinky
Pretty Hairbands
and
Haribo (“because you need sweets to cheer you up!”)
She also insisted on decorating inside the box as well, so the child who receives it ‘won’t know it was a shoe box’, I thought that was so thoughtful.

If you have time and a spare shoe box it takes about 10 minutes of your time and could mean a lot to a child in the 2nd or 3rd world. Check out the UK site here

That’s so incredibly sweet! I’ll put a few boxes together too I think, so tell Lily she’s inspired me to do good too
Thanks for the link, will do a girl and a boy box and get my mum to do one too. Lily sounds like a sweet and most considerate little girl, which is rare today. Well done to you. Let her know she has inspired me too.
I’ve just told Lily and she’s so pleased. She says ‘Thank you’ x
This is a great idea, I’ve only just discovered this charity after someone commented on a post I wrote last week about being overwhelmed by toys. I’ve posted about this today and given your post a mention too.
That is going to be one lucky little girl! Lily rocks.
Great charity, will def do a box. I feel a post coming on and a few begging emails to PR’s x
We just completed ours yest and the kids brought them to school this morn, they love doing it every year. I can’t believe your 6 year old has worked it out about Santa already – I was just thinking this morning that I’ll prob only have it for another 3 or 4 years (and mine are aged 7 and 5!!)
