It’s Hooked on Friday and this week, mine this week is the Seaside.

I’d love to live by the sea, I have tried many times to live at the coast and have failed.  There was the Regency Apartment in Brighton which fell through, and 13 years later I’m still smarting from that. It was small but had 14 foot ceilings, bow windows, tiny balcony and if you craned you head the right way a seaview.  But as it turned out, it was falling down and the bank wouldn’t lend me the money on it.  I would like to point out to the bank that it’s still there!!

There was my heavenly 6 months in Vancouver living 2 blocks from Vanier Park and Beach. Where we try and visit whenever we can and would one day like to settle as a family.

But while we’re still in the UK whenever we get the chance we visit the North Norfolk coast and the beaches at Brancaster, Holkham (where Shakespeare in Love was filmed) and Wells next the Sea and the delightful villages that lie next to them.

One day we’ll live by the sea, but in the meantime I can visit all these wonderful places over and over.

Where’s your favourite beach?

I also love the seaside. Really, I think it’s only strange people who don’t. ;)
My fave beach is Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys. So very pretty.

Oh that is a beautiful beach!! I forgot to add Sanibel to that list – Florida beaches are the best! :)

What is it about beaches that make me almost drool! I think I’m misplaced currently. One day….

Thx for the eye candy!

We actually used to live in Cairns in Australia and it was gorgeous, but sooo far from home (here in Michigan) and I started to have that feeling of wanting to go home after being on vacation…it always felt like you were on vacation, not like ‘home’….maybe if we had family nearby it would’ve been different, but his family is in Sydney, mine is here in MI.

Any beach is my favorite beach! I LOVE the ocean, and I’d love to live by the ocean!! The entire coast of North Carolina is very beautiful, but now that I’ve been to the Caribbean, I’ll have to say that Jolly Beach in Antigua is my most favorite!

I love the beach, any beach! The one I spend the most time at is Cannon Beach in Oregon, but it isn’t always a warm beach, so if I could add just a tad more sunny days to the mix I’d be happy. But when it is nice there, it is GORGEOUS! Even when it isn’t nice, I enjoy the storms from inside the beach house! I love that beach because it is not only beautiful in landscape, but I love the quaint town too.

There may be some beaches out there I don’t like but I haven’t found them yet. I like them busy and I like them empty. As a southern guy, rocky beaches and cold water are kind odd, but I give them their due.

We’re gearing up for another beach trip soon, and it can’t come soon enough! I wrote about last year’s trip to Martha’s Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts. It is so peaceful there, and one of my favorite places. It feels as if you’re leaving the real world behind when you hop on the ferry to get there.

Oh Liz – don’t give up the dream!! I live by the beach in Brighton and yes, it is fantastic. When I met my husband he had a flat on Marine Parade – one of the Regency seafront buildings – I’m sure that was part of the reason I fell in love with him (that and the fact that he was French)!! But you can still do it…move here…move here…

Oh, and just to answer your question…anywhere in SE Asia are my favourite beaches. Thailand…mmmm…..

My favorite beach is Ko’Olina … and Turtle Bay … oh and Ala Moana Beach Park but only on a weekday. Sad, I have not been to the beach in a looooooooong time even though I live on an island :(

Growing up in southeast Georgia, we were only a little over an hour from St. Simons Island and went often. Now I would love to be close to the ocean again. It it just exciting! We lived on the beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a few months (many years ago). I swam every evening in the warm gorgeous water!! Don’t give up trying to live at the ocean.

The Cornish beaches of my childhood summer holidays (Morganporth, Treyarnon Bay) must take first prize, but my daughter’s first seaside experience was at Yaverland on the Isle of Wight, and it is still my favourite place to take her.

I have to say, I love Australian beaches. I might be biased having lived here all my life, but I’ve tried Hawaii, Bali, and the South Pacific….and I think Australia is still a winner for me.

Must mention though, compared to Bali (which felt like I was wading in a hot bath!), our beaches are pretty chilly. So I do prefer to have a yummy milkshake at a beach cafe, and just stroll along the sand. It’s beautiful!

Loved your pictures- I would love to have a beach home- I can see the fog bank over the hills from the Hamlet house….does that count?

One of my favorites is Panama City Beach and Fort Walton Beach. The sand is white white white and just gorgeous.

I have to pledge allegiance to the (New) Jersey Shore! :-)

But if I would find myself stranded on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, I wouldn’t complain!
