Melissa over at the wonderful Inspired Room has asked for Christmas posts and inspirations so here’s mine. I suck at wrapping presents, there is no other way to describe it. When I was a single girl it wasn’t a problem just paid someone to do it at the mall when I bought gifts. But I don’t have anything like that kind of income anymore and I have to buy something like 5 times the amount of presents that I used to!
This year I’ve decided to trawl the web for ideas and inspiration, so I can keep it thrifty yet pretty. My first stop as always is Martha Stewart
I like the fact that I could make this into two Christmas Holiday projects with Lily. Printing the paper and then wrapping the presents.
This would also make a good holiday project, I like the idea of making tinsel stars and maybe letters for name tags with glitter on.
Lily and I are making iced gingerbread men for her classmates this year and this is the ideal way to wrap them. I might make a few extra for friend’s children’s parcel labels as well.
Have you got any interesting ways to wrap presents? Let me know if you have either by leaving me a message here or a ‘tweet’ on Twitter.

Oh I like that idea of buttons and the Christmas star. I once used brown shipping paper to wrap presents and had my kids stamp snowflakes all over them. That was fun.
That sounds like a great project
I like the printing your own paper, what a great family project
Those are some great ideas….the gingerbread men will look sooo cute wrapped like that! I suck at wrapping too!!….the best I do is to use tissue paper and gift bags. I buy the plain brown ones and some raffia ribbon and then we can decorate the bag….or not, they still look really nice.

Corinne, I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s wrapping challenged
I like the brown bag idea, green and frugal!
Oh I LOVE that button idea! It’s so charming and playful. And you’re right, what a great project to do with your little one.
I like to keep a supply of solid colored tissue paper on hand (they have some lovely metallics out there now) and then just some really beautiful rich looking ribbons in satins, velvets, and grosgrains. The tissue is so inexpensive, and if you buy a big roll of the ribbon it lasts a long time and is quite economical…plus it looks like you put WAY more time and effort into wrapping than you actually did!
THanks for your thanksgiving wishes Liz! And thanks for your beautiful blog and generous spirit

Monograms are so popular right now, I am using chipboard letters that I glittered in people’s favorite colors as my gift tags.
What modernly magical wrapping ideas! I especially love the grouping of different sized polka dots. Very fresh yet festive. Thanks for sharing these ideas with us, and Happy Holidays! ~Arleen
