Operation Christmas Child

in Christmas

One of my big things at Christmas is teaching Lily that there are children far less fortunate than her and to be charitable.  Luckily her school subscribed to Operation Christmas Child where you fill a decorated shoe box with practical gifts for a child in the second and third world.

So tonight we’re decorating the box and Lily’s going to make a picture to put in it, ‘so somewhere a child knows that we care about them at Christmas’ as she so beautifully put it.  I was a very proud Mummy in that moment!

Check out the site, it’s just a little thing to do in the run up to Christmas but it could mean a lot to someone else.

We’ve participated in Operation Christmas Child, too, and it’s always fun. I think it’s so important to teach our children about giving, especially at this time of year. -Julia
