From a Shabby Chic to a Glamorous Christmas

I love a Christmas Tree to look traditional with hand crafted baubles and things we have made ourselves. You know the kind of thing gingerbread men, popcorn, wooden stars, candy canes and gingham.  In my head our house looks like this at Christmas

But my puritan/shabby chic look might have been a little over-done the last few years. This year my fashionista 5 year old daughter (I swear she’ll end up a Carrie-a-like!)  has said that this year the tree must be glittery and glamorous!  So I am having to re-adjust my view of what a tree should look like.

Now having looked about and thought about it, if it were down to me this would be our tree this year. How gorgeous is this?

However as money will be a bit tight this Christmas, I need to do glamorous and thrifty! Luckily Christmas baubles have come down a lot in price the last few years. Thinking about it I’m sure I have some in the attic left over from my single girl days – ok I see where Miss L get’s it from now!.

So I’m going to try and get something together more like this

But this picture has made me realise that this look can be achieved inexpensively using lots of colourful wrapping paper and ribbon. So wish me luck and I’ll post pictures of our tree on the 1st December when it goes up! :)

I think your little fashionista and mine would get along fabulously. I do like the look of that last tree! -Julia :)

How ironic, my daughter and I went shopping today and they had Christmas trees out on display. The tree Maddie loved appeared just like your third picture. Although our tree this year will probably look more like your first picture.

All these trees are lovely in their own ways! I do love those last two, especially. Growing up our tree was always a random collection of ornaments that we’d acquired over the years, and now that I’ve been away from home for a while I’m happy to be starting my own little random collection!

Can’t wait to see how yours turns out Liz!

Love the Christmas trees especially the first one which is so sweet. I really I can’t wait to put mine up this year but I’m torn between Thanksgiving which I wish was over already and Christmas that can’t seem to get here soon enough. Thanks for sharing, I like your blog and I will add a link to mine.

Ooh, I like that last tree.

Except my kitties would have a field day with the feather tails on those ornaments!!

love them! I heart themed trees. If I could I’d have one in EVERY room.

My tree has been white and silver for the last few years- I may add a touch of blue this year- thanks for the inspiration.
