Childrens Room Makeover

I posted before that we’d ordered some new items from Ikea in hope of tidying Miss L’s room, which seemed to have developed a life of it’s own.  Today we put it all together and sorted her things into keep, charity and throw out.  Seriously how do five year olds have so much, I swear it wasn’t me buying it all!

So here’s the before

And here’s what it looked like 6 hours later…

All her books finally have a home, she can actually get to her toys and she can display the lovely things she’s made at school.  I now have a very happy daughter, and I need a glass of wine :)

  5. Yay! I love those pink storage boxes! They look so perfect with the white Ikea bookshelf, just like you predicted they would! Now if only I could get my own room this tidy :)

Honestly, though, I remember when I was little I found so much satisfaction in sorting and organizing things, and here you’ve given Lily the perfect environment to satisfy a child’s desire to compartmentalize her things. Well done!

  6. Thanks guys, I’m exhausted! 4 very large bags to goodwill, 3 bags of trash but one happy daughter and her room is tamed.

Anne you’re right Lily is now putting everything away just where she thinks it should go. It’s also made my Christmas shopping easier now I can actually she what she has. No need for anymore Barbies! :)

  7. I bought a similar cubed case for my teenage daughter and it works great. Wonderful transformation!
